IT assets face rapid obsolescence requiring frequent upgrades and disposal of outdated equipment. Typically, the recycling of these assets is managed to minimize cost without consideration for mitigating the potential compliance and litigation risks inherent in today's business environment.
OnlineSecurity's Secure IT Asset Disposal program provides a cost-effective solution to mitigating litigation and compliance risk while disposing obsolete IT assets.
Service Description:
- A standard end-of-life cycle IT asset management program encompasses the collection of the equipment, the deletion of proprietary/confidential information, and the repurposing of the assets either through reuse, (resale), or destruction.
- In addition to the standard services, OnlineSecurity consultants will work with the client's legal, IT, and/or human resources team to identify systems that may have information relevant for ensuring compliance or responding to (future) litigation. For those particular systems:
- OnlineSecurity will obtain
an evidentiary copy of
the data on the IT asset,
and OnlineSecurity's forensics
engineers will provide certification
as to the destruction of the
data from the original asset.
- OnlineSecurity will securely
store, for the period of twelve
months, all evidence harvested,
so that in the event that the
information must be presented
as evidence, OnlineSecurity can
analyze the information for relevant
(responsive) evidence and testify
to the authenticity, integrity,
and veracity of that evidence.†
Delivery Mechanism:
- OnlineSecurity's asset management consultants will meet with the client's legal, IT, and human resources team to develop a comprehensive asset disposal and risk mitigation strategy.
- Based on this strategy, OnlineSecurity's forensic engineers will oversee the collection, the evidence capture, and the data destruction from the client’s IT equipment.
- Throughout the process, OnlineSecurity will use court accepted forensic protocols to create the evidentiary copies.
